Why did you join aKDPhi?
Navigating my way through my first year of college was challenging as a first-generation college student, but if there was one thing I learned, it's that if you want to grow, you have to take the actions needed to do so; and that's what led me to rush! When I went to the first rush event, I met so many empowering women who were determined and passionate about their goals and community. I wanted to surround myself with inspiring individuals, and I knew that the aKDPhi siblings would encourage me to grow into my full potential.
How has your time in aKDPhi helped/improved/challenged you?
Even with my short time in aKDPhi so far, I have grown in ways I never thought was possible; I became more outspoken and confident because I had the opportunity to meet people who genuinely wanted to hear what I had to say. I was constantly challenged with skills like public speaking and had to overcome the belief that I was small and quiet. These challenges have made me realize that there are various great versions of who I am that have yet to emerge, and I cannot wait to see what the future has to hold.
